from a red paper clip to a house
Sunday, January 7, 2007
once in a while, someone or the other comes up with such a simple yet extraordinary idea that it leaves everyone thinking "wow! Thats amazing. why didn't that idea occur to me?".
in case you haven't heard or read him, i'm talking about idea behind One Red Paper Clip (trading up, item by item, from a red paper clip, eventually hoping to get a house).
head over to wikipedia or his blog to read how kyle macdonald bartered his way from a single paperclip to his dream home in which he now lives in Canada in a series of trades spanning almost exactly one year.
or start swapping now over here and start your little bartering adventure like this guy.
who knows, you might get lucky.

be a film producer. the 1 second film
Saturday, January 6, 2007
from wikipedia, 1 second film is a 70mm animated film that's just a second long. that's right, a second long.
The 1 Second Film is a non-profit collaborative animation project that brings together thousands of people around the world as supporters in the hopes to raise money for the Global Fund for Women. The film has over 6,600 producers and counting.....
simply put this way, donate $1 or more and get listed as the producer(anyone can become a producer of the film, and yes, that means you as well!). the film, shot in 70mm, will feature one minute (24 frames) of animation consisting of two frames each of 12 images. The images will be created by an expected 100+ participants who will gather the night before the shoot. the rest of the movie? 90 minutes of credits (wtf).
the real goal of this is to raise money for a charity, The Global Fund for Women.
it's a clever use of the internet, reaching thousands of people and giving them an inexpensive way to get something fun: producer credit in imdb! if you join as a producer by contributing as low as $1 via Paypal, your name and site link will be added to the imdb movie database as a
producer of this film. infact, some prominent hollywood celebrites have already turned up the support the film. imaging yourself working with Tim Burton, Ewan McGregor, Steve Buscemi, Danny DeVito, Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, and many more.
donate now and get featured as producers of the moment. and do leave a comment or tag if you did donated.
